Commitment Policy
Last updated: December 2025
This explains how LeetOrPay tracks your progress and handles derailments. The goal: clear daily guidance without losing money on technicalities.
The Bright Red Line
Your progress is tracked against a "bright red line"—a daily target that rises toward your weekly goal. Stay above it, and you're safe. Fall below at midnight (your timezone), and you derail.
You don't need to solve problems every day. Grind on weekends, coast on weekdays—whatever works. The system only checks if you're above the line.
Derailment Process
- You cross the deadline with progress below the red line
- We send a "legitimacy check" email immediately
- You have 24 hours to respond
- If legitimate or no response → charge processed
- Pledge increases for next derailment
- Goal resets with a 7-day flat period (respite)
Legitimacy Check
The question we ask: "Would you have written an exception for this in advance?"
- Technical issue on our end (API failure, missed notification)
- Stark emergency (hospitalization, family crisis)
- LeetCode profile became private/inaccessible
- "I got busy" / "I forgot"
- Vacation you didn't pause for
- Procrastination (the whole point!)
Legitimacy Checks
Every derailment triggers a 24-hour legitimacy check. If something was off (technical issue, emergency), reply within 24 hours to dispute. We trust you—no monthly limits. Pattern abuse results in account review.
Changing Your Goal
To prevent panic-weakening, goal changes have a 7-day delay:
- Lower your rate → takes effect in 7 days
- Pause your goal → takes effect in 7 days
- Raise your rate → immediate (making it harder is always allowed)
- Archive/delete → immediate, no charge even if behind
If you're 7+ days ahead, you can lower your rate and it takes effect before you'd derail. You earned that flexibility.
7-Day Respite
After a derailment, you get a 7-day "flat" period—no progress required. This gives you time to recover and get back on track without immediately risking another charge.
The Spirit Clause
By using LeetOrPay, you agree to follow the spirit of your commitment, not exploit loopholes. We're here to help you succeed, not to trick you out of money—and we expect the same good faith in return.
